This one day training is experiential in nature, and facilitates participants to work 'in the sandtray' throughout the day with guidance and support. Using sandtrays provided and objects, shells, miniatures and other therapeutic items. therapists learn to use the art of sandtray therapy. It aims to equip and resource qualified therapists to 'have something different' to engage and help clients.

Why sandtray?

It is a fantastic medium to work at a deeper and embodied level. Sandtray work provides containment and a sense of safety. Engaging the senses, it also helps people who are disconnected from their depths, people who find it hard to explore/self disclose and people who use words as a way of blocking psychological contact. Their are multiple possibilities in sandtray therapy which often 'frees up' the therapeutic work, creating new possibilities. It is an excellent way to access and work with the right brain which allows for further healing potential.

What are we taught?

The therapists are taught dynamically about Jungian and Gestalt approaches in working with sandtray and throughout the day, encouraged to put the teaching into action by participating in pairs and group work learning to work with the sand, using its form to bring about healing and growth. All groups are limited to 10 people and lunch is provided.

'This workshop was unexpectedly moving. What a fantastic tool to use in therapy- I hugely recommend this training to anyone who wants to work creatively and meaningfully with clients. It is very well taught. '

Ian Drummond, Counsellor

Students will learn in a very practical way how to work powerfully with a range of psychological processes using the sandtray as a vehicle for change.

We look at using the sandtray to work to facilitate deeper understanding, contact with self and other, decision making and the resolution of difficult and/or traumatic experience. Sandtray work can be truly transformation and this training allows participants to experience something of this for themselves

Throughout the day, the tutor gives feedback and expert guidance to help students feel confident using this form.

The tutor also demonstrates 'live' a piece of sandtray work, to be observed and invites feedback in the spirit of mutual learning and growth. All participants take away their very own sandtray ( and sand) to work with in their therapeutic practice.
